If we will let Him, Christ will do
in us and through us that which He did in and through the committed
believers after Pentecost.
The potential is ours. Do we dare believe that the faithful Christian
believers may yet experience a great new wave of spiritual power?
Tragedy in the Church,

| "Oh
God, come feelingly near!" God drew feelingly near to Moses in the bush
and on the mount. He came feelingly near to the church at Pentecost and
He came feelingly near to that Corinthian church when the unbelievers
went away awe-struck to report that "God is really in their midst!" I am willing to confess in humility that we need this in our day. I Call It Heresy, 71

"Nowhere in the Word of God is there any text or passage that that can be tortured or twisted into teaching that the organic living church of Jesus Christ just prior to His return will not have every right and every power and every obligation that she knew in that early part of the book of Acts." Tragedy in the Church, 66. |

| "Truth that is not experienced is no better than error, and may be
fully as dangerous. The scribes who sat in Moses' seat were not the
victims of error; they were the victims of their failure to experience
what they taught." The Root of the Righteous |
|
| "One characteristic that marks the
average church today is lack of anticipation. Christians when they meet
do not expect anything unusual to happen; consequently only the usual
happens, and that usual is as predictable as the setting of the sun... We need today a fresh spirit of anticipation that springs out of the promises of God. We must declare war on the mood of nonexpectation, and come together with childlike faith. Only then can we know again the beauty and wonder of the Lord's presence among us." God Tells the Man Who Cares, 168,170. |
|
| "The devil is a better theologian than any of us and is a devil still." Man the Dwelling Place of God.

|
"The
Spirit-filled life is not a special, deluxe edition of Christianity. It
is part and parcel of the total plan of God for His people. There is
nothing about the Holy Spirit queer or strange or eerie."
How to be Filled with the Holy Spirit
|
|
|
"Oh, brethren, we may lack everything else, but we must have the cloud
and fire of His presence; we must have the enabling and the power of
the Holy Spirit and the glow of the Shekinah glory--God with us! For then, even lacking everything else, you still have a true church!"
Tragedy in the Church, 69

"Speaking as a minister, it is my strong feeling that no man has a
right to preach to a crowd that he has not prayed for."

Church: The Missing Gifts, 62.

|
"Many of the doctrinal divisions among the churches are the result of a
blind and stubborn insistence that truth has but one wing." That Incredible Christian, 59.
|
|
|
"At
what point, then, does a theological fact become for the one that holds
it a life-giving truth? At that point where obedience begins."
That Incredible Christian.
|
|
| "I want the presence of God Himself, or I don't want anything at all to
do with religion...I want all that God has or I don't want any."

Counselor, 40.

|
"No man has a right to offer advice who has not first heard God speak."
The Root of the Righteous, 18.

"Worship is pure or base as the worshipper entertains high or low
thoughts of God. We tend by a secret law of the soul to move toward our
mental image of God." The Knowledge of the Holy. |
|
| "When we become too glib in prayer we are most surely talking to ourselves." Born After Midnight |
|
|
"It
is important that we get still to wait on God. And it is best that we
get alone, preferably withour Bible outspread before us. Then if we
will we may draw near to God and begin to hear Him speak to us in our
hearts"
Pursuit of God, 74.

an effort to get the work of the Lord done we often lose contact with

oh, the grace of God! God through the plan of salvation in Jesus Christ

| A.W. Tozer was a Christian and Missionary Alliance pastor, author and editor. His comments are always filled with wisdom and insight. I hope that you will be inspired to read more about Tozer and read more of Tozer's timeless classics. May I suggest: The Pursuit of God and The Knowledge of the Holy as two excellent places to start.
