Praying for Your Pastor

How to Pray for your pastor: Here is a weekly prayer guide for praying for your pastor. Add and adapt with your favorite verses and/or requests that more specifically fit your Pastor's needs.

SUNDAY: His Ministry
1) That the "hand of the Lord" (His special blessing) would be upon him and his ministry.

Ezra 7:6 this Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the LORD, the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the LORD his God was on him.

Ezra 7:27-28 Praise be to the LORD, the God of our fathers, who has put it into the king's heart to bring honor to the house of the LORD in Jerusalem in this way and who has extended his good favor to me before the king and his advisers and all the king's powerful officials. Because the hand of the LORD was upon me, I took courage and gathered leading men from Israel to go up with me.

Ezra 8:22 "The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him..."

Psalm 1:1a,2,3,6a Blessed is the man (whose) delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not whither. Whatever he does prospers...The Lord watches ov er the way of the righteous.

2) That he would preach with clarity, power and boldness

1 Cor 2:4-5 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words but with a demonstration of the Sprit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.

Ephesians 6:19 Pray also for me. that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.

Col 4:3-4 and pray for us. too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

1 Peter 4:11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him he the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

3) That his preaching would be annointed and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

1 Thes 1:5 because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction.

1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit -- just as it has taught you, remain in him.

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor...

4) That people would be won to the Lord through his life, ministry and preaching.

Daniel 12:3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and Forever.

Phm 1:6 I pray that you will be active in sharing your faith so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.

5) That people would be receptive to his message and ministry.

James 1:2 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

1 Thes 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you recived the word of God, which you heard from us,
you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God. which is at work in you who believe.

Isaiah 55:11 so is the word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose, for which I sent it.

Jer 23:29 "Is not my word like a fire," declares the LORD. "and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces"?

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, Joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

6) That his life and preaching would radiate God's glory and holiness.

2 Cor. 3:18. "And we who with unveled faces all reflect the Lord's glory are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit."

7) That the Glory of God's presence will be manifested in our Worship today.

"Then the temple of the LORD was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the temple of God." 2 Chron. 5:13b-14."

"After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly." Acts 4:31.

8) That your church's and pastor's ministry will be fruitful today!

"and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." Acts 2:47b
