Again
and again Jesus shows us his authority to heal, to cast out demons, to
do all sorts of miracles. In this text, he has authority over the
wind and sea.
I'm always struck that Jesus' miracles were nearly always focused on meeting someone's need: Bread for hungry people, healing for the sick, freedom for the demon possessed. Jesus knows our need and in his compassion he reaches out to us to meet that need. The disciples were afraid as they were tossed by the wind and the wave. Jesus saw their need and brought peace to the storm. What is your storm? Jesus knows about it. He sees it. He is able to calm your storm too. Cast your cares on him. He really does care about you.
