Psalm 30:11-12 (NIV)
    You turned my wailing into dancing;
        you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
    [12] that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
        O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.

The Christian life is characterized by joy.  Not that it is always easy--it's not.  But joy flows from a relationship with Christ, not from our circumstances, so it is may be found in the most unusual of places--especially the difficult ones.

Sackcloth and mourning often lead to deep joy.  Sometimes it is the circumstances of life that bring us low.  Yet from that humble place we cry out to God and his presence brings joy--his deliverance brings deep joy.  Many times the sackcloth signfies our repentance and deep mourning over sin.  We recognize that we have failed and turn again to God.  Freed from our guilt, our wailing turns to dancing.  The chains of guilt and condemnation fall to the floor and we begin the dance of joy.

Where there are trials, count them all joy.  Where there is sin, repent and find the joy David desired when he cried out, "restore to me the joy of my salvation". That ought to get you dancing. Then allow God to take off your sackcloth and clothe you with joy.  Sing at the top of your lungs--come on, don't be shy.  And then turn up the music and dance with freedom and joy!

With Joy,

Pastor Jeff
